2025 FALL BOCCE SEASON

I.  October 6th is New Starting Date for Fall 2025 Bocce Season

The Bocce Club Board has decided to move the start of the Fall 2025 Bocce Season back from September 29th to October 6th.  This is being done for three reasons:

  • It will give more players a chance to return and play
  • It will provide a better chance for cooler temperatures to play
  • It will avoid matches being played on a religious holiday (Yom Kippur is on October. 1-2)

Subsequently, the season will end November 21st, with the playoffs and championship scheduled after Thanksgiving on December 2-5, 2025.

II.  Playing Times Survey Fall Bocce Season

The survey to collect preferred times for the Fall Bocce Season was sent out on August 16th to all current team Captains and Alternate Captains. If you are team leader and did not get the survey, contact Larry Boress at tavboccevp@yahoo.com.

DO NOT SEND LARRY ANY TIMES AS ONLY THE SURVEY RESPONSES WILL BE USED TO ALLOCATE PLAYING TIMES.

III. Captains Meeting

There will be a meeting for Captains and Alternate Captains (or if neither can attend, a team representative) on September 18, 2025, in the Tewa Ballroom at the Kiva Club from 10 AM -12 PM.

If the team cannot be represented by its Captain, Alternate Captain or a team member, we will make the meeting accessible via a Zoom Call.  If no one can attend, use this link to connect to the call on Sept. 18th at 10 AM Phoenix time:

An update on the new Kiva Bocce Courts will be provided, as well as any rule changes and captains training.

Training programs for new players and judges will soon be scheduled and announced.

IV. New Players

If you want to play on a bocce team and haven't already notified us, Contact Marj Mancuso (active10@comcast net.

Individuals who have not played in 2025 in the Winter or Spring Seasons will need to pay $10 for Bocce Club membership for the year. Payment should be made to the Bocce Club Treasurer, Sue Facklam (suenurseprn@comcast.net).

If a team needs players, we keep a list of interested residents. Contact Marj Mancuso at active10@comcast.net and she will assist you.

V.  Scorekeeper Needed

Our current Scorekeeper for the Kiva Courts, Rich Roberts, is unable to serve this role for the Fall Season. We are looking for someone to take that important responsibility. All forms and training will be provided. If interested, contact Elliot Schear at tavboccepres@gmail.com.

VI.  ReserveMyCourt Privileges

If you are a new captain, make sure to submit a request for “Captain” status on the ReserveMyCourt website to enable you to schedule practices seven days in advance. Players may also reserve courts on RMC, but they only have “Member” status to reserve three days in advance. Alternate Captains do not have “Captain” status.

VI.  AED/CPR Training

There will be two AED/CPR classes for sports clubs’ members on September 24th and November 14th.  If you are interested and have NOT yet submitted your name, complete the survey at this link:

Welcome to the Trilogy at Vistancia Bocce Club

All residents are invited to learn to play bocce and use the courts at the Kiva and Mita Clubs. If you want to join a team and play in one of our three, somewhat competitive, seasons during the year, contact Marj Mancuso at active10@comcast.net.

The balls required for bocce play are available to any resident at no cost from the Membership Desks at the Mita and Kiva Clubs. Bocce Club members have access to the balls and equipment at each court area from locked containers.

The Bocce Club leagues tend to play M-F at 10 AM, 2 PM and 4 PM. Other times are open from anyone to use or for teams to practice.

While you are always welcome to just come to a court and play, it is advised that you use the ReserveMyCourt app to ensure no one has reserved the court you want to play on, as reservations get priority for using a court. You can download the RMC app to your phone and visit it on your computer. See the article "How to Reserve a Bocce Court" in the Announcements below for information how to get to and use RMC.
